No Gender

Since not so long ago it’s becoming more normal to see transgenders or no genders. There are lots of people who try to make this subject more speakable, but it’s since 2015 that there is more acceptance for this.

One of the themes of Shifting identities is Gender. Gender has everything to do with appearance. But there are people who don’t know which gender they are or have the feeling the fit the other gender better. There are more and more celebrity’s that are coming out for their gender neutrality, what makes it more normal for other people. For example, Rowan Blancard, she wrote a story for Rookie magazine, where she told about being a queer. Later she tweeted more about what being a queer was and why she felt like it. Being a queer means not putting a label on sexuality. She sees herself as a human being, just existing. Not as men or women. Rowan is not the only one who feels this way, also Ruby Rose, known by orange is the new black, she is a women but doesn’t feel like one or either a man. She’s just herself, something in between.

The trend that we see here is Gender neutral or gender norms. It’s outdated to have gender norms and the gender discussion needs to stop. Why should we hold on to the boxes of how it should be. Everyone should be their unique self, as a men, women or everything in between.
